License to CARRY - not SHOOT!

For those of us who have a license to carry a concealed weapon, we need to remember exactly what the rules are. The license does give you the ability to carry a firearm almost wherever you'd like but it does not give you the ability to fire that firearm whenever you'd like. This is not a video game, this is not a movie and we are not Jack Bauer from 24.

There is a recent article about a man in Oregon who thought he was doing the right thing when he fired his revolver at the tires of a car of fleeing robbers. What he thought was right has landed him in big trouble.

Basically he saw some robbers coming out of an Apple store with some iPhones and decided to save the day by shooting at the tires to detain the bad guys. You just can't do that! The risks here outweigh the possibility of a good outcome by like a million. An innocent person or worse, a child could have been struck by a stray bullet.

Take carrying a firearm seriously. You should know when, where and importantly how to fire your gun before you even start carrying it. Carrying a concealed weapon in Idaho Falls and doing it with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for safe carry should be your top priority. When we carry, we become a different person, we are now in a different class. We become the protector and the preventer of certain things. We must know what they are!

Here is a LINK to the article about the above Oregon man.

Idaho Falls Concealed Carry vs. Open Carry

FOX News pollster Scott Rasmussen has some interesting numbers about concealed weapons.

Most Americans are not concerned about people who carry concealed weapons but many have mixed feelings about open carry gun laws that allow owners to wear their weapons in public.
47% oppose so-called "open carry" laws while 41% favor "open-carry gun" laws.

Who's more dangerous, your doctor or your neighbor gun owner?

Here are some interesting statistics I found on Rense.com. While they may or may not be true, they are worth wondering about.

Physicians
(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.
(Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health Human Services)
Guns
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. Yes, that is 80 million.
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188.
Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."
FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!
Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.
